Is the daily the same for everyone?
Yes, with one asterisk. Everyone on the same difficulty gets the same five colors, because the puzzle is generated from the date plus the difficulty. Easy, Hard, and Insane are three different sets. The date is your local calendar date, so a friend across the world may be a day ahead or behind you.
When do new colors arrive?
Midnight, your local time. After you finish the daily, the summary and home screens count down to the next set.
What happens to my streak if I miss a day?
It resets. Your next finished daily starts a new streak at 1. Playing a missed day later from the calendar records your score for that day, but it does not repair the streak. A streak means you played on the actual day.
Can I replay a day I already finished?
No. A finished day opens its locked result, not a fresh board. Missed past days can be played once from the calendar. If you want unlimited attempts, that is what practice is for.
Why did my dial lock? I barely touched it.
Pressing and releasing a dial is the one motion, even if it never moved. Line the dial up in a single press, drag, and release. On a keyboard, arrows adjust and Enter (or tabbing away) commits.
How is the score calculated?
By how different the two colors look, not by how far the dials are. The game converts both colors to a perceptual color space and measures the visual distance between them. A miss you cannot see scores about 99. A 100 is reserved for every dial exactly on target.
Why does Insane hide the colors on the dials?
On Easy and Hard, each track is painted with the colors that dial would give you, which is a map. Insane takes the map away: the tracks go neutral and your swatch is the only feedback. Combined with starts that can sit on pure black or white, where two of the three dials do nothing visible, it is the honest version of do you actually know color.
What data do you store about me?
Almost nothing, and none of it on a server. Your results, streak, theme, and settings live in your browser's local storage, on your device. There are no accounts and no analytics. Clearing your browser data for picker.ink erases your history, and there is no way to recover it. The full list is on the privacy page.
What is inside a share link?
Your whole result: the five targets and your five colors, encoded into the link itself. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. Anyone opening the link sees your exact card, and can start their own game from it.
Someone sent me a duel invite. What is that?
An experimental head-to-head mode: two players match the same five colors, each at their own pace, and most frames won takes it. It is invite-only while it is being tested. Duel moves pass through a small relay server. The privacy page describes exactly what that carries.
Do you have an app?
No. The game is the website, and it works on phones. Add it to your home screen if you want an icon.
